m HAARHUIS MAKES IT TWO IN A ROW AT THE BLACKROCK MASTERS Paul Haarhuis took home $100,000 for the second year in a row at the Royal Albert Hall by squeezing past Goran Ivanisevic to win the BlackRock Masters.
Haarhuis triumphed 7-6(4), 4-6, 10-7 (on a Championsâ Tie-Break).
The match was thrilling throughout, with neither player able to break serve in the first set.
Ivanisevic had chances in the tie-break, but couldnât convert them, and an inexplicable through-the-legs attempt cost him dearly.
The second set continued in a similar vain, with the scores remaining on serve until 5-all, when Ivanisevic struck.
A big service game sealed the set for the 2001 Wimbledon Champion and set up a third set Championsâ Tie-Break.Haarhuis however came back to take the Champions Tie Break 10-7, taking the title for the second consecutive year.
âIâm thrilled to be back here and winning it again,â said Haarhuis.
