| For over a decade Tim Henman was British No. 1 and was tipped to be the first British player to win Wimbledon since Fred Perry in 1936. Although he has never achieved this goal Henman has excelled at Wimbledon reaching 4 semi finals and 4 quarter finals between 1996 and 2004. Despite battling with several injuries Henman has continued to play consistently well allowing him to stay within the World top 40.
Tim has also set up his own charity Kids at Heart which he will be raising money for whilst playing this year at The BlackRock Masters. Henman founded Kids at Heart in 2000 to organise events that would raise money to help the fight to improve the lives of children worldwide. The money raised from this years match will benefit Brainwave. Formed in 1982, The Brainwave Centre has helped over 1500 children with physical and cognitive disabilities, whether through brain injury, genetic and chromosome abnormality, or accident.
"I am delighted to be playing at the Royal Albert Hall again this year as part of The BlackRock Masters. It is such a magnificent venue and a great way to raise money for my charity Kids at Heart. I love playing in front of the home crowd and to play alongside so many true legends makes it a really fun evening."
It will be the third time Henman has appeared at the culminating event on the Merrill Lynch Tour of Champions. His other two matches being against Rainer Schuettler and Joachim Johansson.
Away from the court, Henman has been married to Lucy for 7 years and they have two children, Rosie and Olivia. In his spare time Tim enjoys playing golf and has a handicap of +4.
