HAARHUIS STORMS TO BLACKROCK MASTERS TREBLE
Dutchman Paul Haarhuis completed a hat-trick of victories at the BlackRock Masters Tennis at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday afternoon in front of record crowds. Haarhuis defeated Guy Forget 6-1, 6-7, 10-8 in a thrilling final watched by a capacity crowd. 2nd - 7th December 2008

This end-of-year tournament is the season finale to the BlackRock Tour of Champions, a year-long Tour that makes its way across Europe and the world and pits past tennis champions against each other in order to earn ranking points.

In order to play in a BlackRock Tour of Champions event, the player must no longer be active on the ATP Tour and have either been:

• Ranked Number 1 in the World
• A Singles Finalist in a Grand Slam Championship
• A Singles Player on a winning Davis Cup Team

The BlackRock Masters Tennis is now firmly established as the UK’s most popular indoor tournament – drawing crowds of more than 30,000 over the course of the event.



FORMAT
Eight players will be split into two groups of four and will compete in a round-robin tournament from Tuesday through to Saturday. The winner from each group will go through to the final on the Sunday afternoon session.

During the event there will be both exhibition and competitive doubles matches taking place.

Each session on Saturday will contain a Singles and a Doubles semi final plus an exhibition Doubles match

SESSION TIMINGS

Tuesday to Saturday:
2 sessions with play commencing at 1.00pm and 7.30pm

Sunday:
1 session with play commencing at approximately 1.30pm.




CHARITY INVOLVEMENT

On Tuesday 4th December 2007 during the evening session, Tim Henman once again took part in a special charity exhibition match against Stefan Edberg in aid of Kids at Heart, with the proceeds going to Teenage Cancer Trust. Following this match there was a short auction on-court, hosted by John Inverdale, which raised over £90,000 for Henman's chosen charity .

On Friday 7th December 2007 there was a celebrity exhibition match in aid of Sport Relief. Jonathan Ross and Greg Rusedski took on Jimmy Carr and Pat Cash in this short exhibition match. There was also a short auction that took place during the evening session on Friday 7th, which raised over £12,500 in aid of Sport Relief.

The BlackRock Masters Tennis is highly supportive of charities and has been involved with a wide range of organisations through various means, raising more than £680,000 since the event started in 1997. Some of those we have helped are:
